| I
started learning to play the Tenor Horn in 1981 whilst in the Army
at Pirbright. I was introduced to it by a Senior Drum Major in the
Guards Division. I then learnt how to play over the next two years
and I also played as a guest player with this band every time I was
here on leave until I left the Army in 1992. I then joined the Royal
Signals T. A. Band playing Saxophone until leaving in 2008. I
joined
Hurworth
Concert Band playing
Bari-Sax and still enjoy both styles of music!
Steve was appointed Senior
Drum Major of the Guards Division whilst in the Army and severed
in the forces for 28 years then he served in the T. A. for another
16 years. Steve has traveled all over the world while with the
forces and loved every minute of it. He is quite flexible as well
and has also had a spell on drums and the Euphonium since he
joined us full time here at Northallerton Silver Band.
Steve has told us that his
other interests are of course his Wife, Greta and their two
children along with the two Grandchildren whom they all get a
great deal of enjoyment from. His hobbies include Classic Cars,
Military Figure Modeling and D. I. Y.
